artsy_

Hello Everyone! During spring break, I finished all of my homework and studying early. This led me to sew something. I wanted to do something really creative and artistic and overall new. While I was working on everything, I took pictures along the way. It’s a matching set of a sweatshirt and shorts. The shorts have a little twist to them, which was my way of making it extra “artsy”.

How to make a Scrunchie!

scrucnhies

Hello Everyone! I got a lot of request for another DIY post, after my DIY tie dye post. DIY scrunchies in particular was requested, and I thought it was the perfect idea! I wear scrunchies almost every day. I have a ton of them, but they’re all very basic colors. I I’ve never made them before, which made it so much more exciting. This is also an up cycling craft. I had some fabric scraps from other projects, and clothing, and I used those to make something new! It surprised me how fun and easy these were to make. Enjoy!

Tie Dye heading

Hello Everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve done a DIY post, or a sewing post. I used to do them all the time but I got too busy. Lately I’ve been making smaller things like pajama pants and shorts. In July I made a really cool tie dye sweatshirt. It turned out pretty well and I wanted to show you guys how I made it. I got the plain, white, sweatshirt from Hobby Lobby for $8 using a coupon. If you like these types of posts, give me some things to make in the comments, and I’ll make a blogpost about them. And there are going to be a lot more pictures on my Instagram. Enjoy!

Spring Clothing Haul!

IMG_2193-2.jpg

Hello Everyone! I went shopping….again. But this time I went to ROMWE, so it doesn’t count. Romwe is a website which sells really cheap and really cute clothes. I have both things from there before, to test it out, but I bought a couple more last week. This is a try on haul. In case you were wondering, I am 5 ‘4″ and all the clothes are a size small, but they are kind of big on me. With each outfit, I listed the price but they were all under the price of $14. Except for one item, which was a special occasion item. I’ve had good experiences with ROMWE before, and I’m really happy with how the clothes came.

How to Make a Cozy Sweater

IMG_8320-2.jpg

Hello everyone! I MADE A SWEATER! *yay* I love making sweaters. This is a very easy DIY and it requires little sewing. I used a knit/fleece fabric and it took me less than one day to make. I bought 1 1/2 yards of fabric, but it depends on the size of the sweater. The fabric I’m using is so stretchy and warm. And I wanted the length to be longer but not to long so I made it where my wrists were on my hips. And my signature sleeves, extra extra long. It’s also perfect for the winter! And I had some extra fabric so I made matching shorts!

My Sewing Mistakes, and how I learned From Them

SEWING.jpg

Hello Everyone! I’m going to be honest, I make a lot of mistakes. Not the usual amount, but a lot more. If I’m not in the right head set or if I’m too tired. And it’s really easy to make mistakes especially when sewing. Usually, I make the most mistakes when cutting fabric. No matter how many times I measure and measure, there is always a chance for a mistake.

HERE ARE SOME MISTAKES I’VE MADE AND HOW I’VE LEARNED FROM THEM!

Making Shorts out of a Skirt DIY

FullSizeRender 9

Hello Everyone! Summer is almost over, it’s time to clean our closets again. We ( My sister, mom, and I ) cleaned one and I found so many amazing upcyclable clothing. One of them, is a cute skirt that was old. It had a perfectly good zipper and two pockets. The fabric is an amazing lace and cotton, layered. It’s really easy to make and not time-consuming.

How to make a Kitty Cat Snuggy

Hello Everyone! I know what you’re all thinking, ‘Cats don’t wear clothes’. Well actually, most cat’s love it. Even if you don’t have a cat, they are great for all furry pet’s (maybe not lizards, more like dogs or guinea pigs). They are also easily adjustable for any size. The pattern I used came with patterns for adult and kid onesies. The print I used is a Teenage Mutant Teenage Turtle print, because my aunt jokes about it so I thought it would be cute and funny.

How to make a half circle skirt

Hello Everyone! Recently I received a HUGE amount of black and blue fabric. It’s thin and stretchy. A half circle skirt immediately cam to mind. In this post I will show  the steps to making one and the math behind it.

First let’s do the math. You need to know a few simple equations first.

Circumference= 2* 3.14* radius

1.You need to find the radius. The circumference is your waist. If you are making a half circle skirt that you will need to double your waist length.

DIY PJ shorts

Something I like to do for birthdays is make pajama shorts. I use their own shorts to make a pattern and trace that on the fabric. But before I start, I taking their measurements, waist and height of shorts. Usually I use a knit fabric which is their favorite colors. It’s the best way to get them something heartfelt and fun (at least sewing is fun  for me). Buying fabric is much cheaper than buying something. Here are some pictures of shorts I’ve made and an abridged version of instructions.

Upcycled Off the Shoulder Shirt

CLICK ON THE HEADING FOR MORE.

This was one of my favorite up- cycling project ever. I took a oversized mens shirt and made it into a off the shoulder shirt. It took me about an hour to make.

IMG_2908

The shirt was on sale at Walmart when we bought it.  The fabric is really soft and flowy. I love the red Hawaiian print. it’s a high to low shirt and has short sleeves. First I cut the top of the mens shirt off and trimmed the bottom to make it high to low. Then, I cut the sleeves using scraps.  I sewed the sleeves to the main piece and then sewed elastic across the entire hemmed piece. Lastly, I hemmed all the other edges.

IMG_2928

I normally wear it during the summer because of the fabric and length. Jeans and shorts go well with it. In the future, I would probably add straps to the actual shirt. This shirt was really fun to make.

Color Blocked Sweatshirt

It can get a little boring during the summer. I didn’t have time to go to the store to get fabric. I looked in my fabric drawer and I saw a bag of scraps. There were a couple of large scraps. And I love to up-cycle so I thought it would be a good idea to make a quick little shirt.

IMG_4229Before I made this sweatshirt, I made a comfy cross sweater. I had large scraps left over from it and made a color blocked sweatshirt. In a way you could say this sweatshirt is up-cyled from scraps.  I had a lot of fun making this and I skipped a lot of hemming because of the color blocked. I originally hadn’t planned for the colors to be like they are, but because of the size of the scraps.  Along with pictures of the sweat shirt.
IMG_4217

The front top portion is red and the bottom portion is black with a red pocket. The back top portion is black and the bottom is red. I cut the pieces extra big and then downsized from there. I love it so much because it’s loose and I can wear it in different types of weathers. It is thick but because of the neck hole and sleeves, it doesn’t over heat me. It’s made from a regular knit fabric. The colors look really good together.

I hope you enjoyed this post!
