Edith Head, (1897-1981)
Edith Head was an American costume designer. She won an amazing record of eight Academy Awards for Best Costume Design. Some of the movies staring her work are The Heiress(1949) and The Sting (1973). Growing up in California, she managed to get a job as a costume sketch artist at Paramount Pictures, without much training in that department. After a remarkable 43 years , Head left Paramount for Universal, maybe because of her successful partnership with Alfred Hitchcock, and she also used her skills for television.
