Edna Woolman Chase,(1877-1957).
Edna Woolman Chase was editor in chief for Vogue magazine from 1914-1942. Her first job at Vogue was working in the mail room. She eventually came to the attention of Mr. Turner, who was the editor at the time. He was responsible for her climbing her way up the corporate ladder and assigned her consultant and eventually gave Edna control over Vogue’s layout. After she retired she wrote her autobiography in 1954 with her daughter. She died a few years later in 1957 from a heart attack, at the age of 80.
